Sarah Colangelo completed her undergraduate degree at Queen’s University where she graduated with Honours and received a Bachelors of Science in Biology and a Bachelors of Physical and Health Education.  She continued her education at the University of Toronto, where she completed a Masters Degree in Physical Therapy.

Throughout her 6 years of post-secondary education, Sarah was a member of the Varsity Track & Field Team and competed at a National level for Queen’s University and the University of Toronto. Since completion of her studies, she has continued to train with the Toronto Track Club.  As an athlete herself, Sarah understands the value of being healthy and the frustration of not being able to function to full capacity in sport when an injury is sustained.  As a result, she has a keen interest in sport specific training and on-field sports coverage.

Sarah is a Certified Yoga Instructor. She uses various forms of Yoga to aid in performance enhancement and the prevention of injury. She has a particular interest in the analysis of function and form in runners – and has since started specializing in Yoga for Runners.

Sarah is trained in Dartfish Video Analysis technology, which is used for advanced movement analysis of sport technique, running, and walking, to aid in performance enhancement and the prevention of injury. She has a particular interest in the analysis of function and form in runners. Sarah is continually seeking advanced skills and training in the field and is currently working towards her certification in Manual Therapy through the Orthopedic Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association. In addition, Sarah has completed her certification in Contemporary Medical Acupuncture at McMaster University and uses this treatment modality as an adjunct to manual therapy for many of her clients.

She continues to advance her knowledge and skills through participation in various courses such as advanced athletic taping, soft tissue release, and the Mulligan Concept – a series of mobilization techniques used to increase range of motion and enhance joint lubrication.  Sarah is also trained in application of the Kinesio Taping method, which is used to aid in the inhibition of muscle spasm, facilitation of muscle weakness or inactivity, resolution of swelling, and the correction of postural dysfunctions or joint malalignments.

Sarah is fully trained and certified in custom orthotic fitting with a specialization in function and performance enhancement. Through the use of gait assessment, video analysis and plaster casting, Sarah is able to create orthotics to help correct muscle imbalances, malalignments, and other foot conditions. She truly has a keen interest in the foot and lower kinetic chain.Sarah is an active member of the CPA and belongs to both its Orthopedic and Sports divisions. Her on-field sports coverage experience includes working with the Vaughan Azzurri Soccer Club and the Toronto Aeros AA Hockey organization.
